Nudity on the NATIONAL LEVEL

 Confession, I HAVE Jacked Off in more than 1 National Park/Recreation Area....

NUDITY IS ALLOWED and NOT CRIMINAL, inside National Park Boundaries. 

Don't count on seeing Old Faithful while nude.

The problems arise as you approach Touristy/Family-Laden areas, or, If you display belligerent behavior.

(Always keep a cover up outfit handy.)

Why? President Teddy Roosevelt entertained the Prime Minister of France, skinnydipping in the thermal pools of Yellowstone!

So, I guess that extends to foreign visitors, then too!

Yeah, Roosevelt had the Press Corps tagging along, but not Tons of Families looking on.

•Rangers rarely will harangue you just for mere nudity...but, if they ever do ask you to dress, please cooperate. You won't be arrested for nudity, but, you CAN be arrested for belligerence, clothed or not!

Sometimes off season visits are preferable!


Non-holidays, slower parks are, nearly without any visitors.
•No Lewd or Lascivious Acts. They aren't  tolerated by the clothed guests, why make an exception for naked ones?

•When nude group hiking, try to ingratiate yourselves to the Rangers, by clearing litter as you hike! Unless they catch you while picking litter up, they may not know it was you; but, as more Naturist groups adopt a nude-litter-gathering campaign, ...they will get the hint.

Joshua Tree is one of the major parks that regularly has sparse visitors.


on The Appalachian Trail, you're  more likely to encounter hikers, than Rangers.

•When booking your group's campsites,  ask for remote sites to be as far from crowds as possible. Also, always book early Spring, and late Fall. Let's face it, at any of the major parks July 4th is NOT the Naturists friend!
